They let you do it.

"And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do whatever you want. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything." — Donald Trump

Today a lot of people are trying to figure out what is going on with Donald Trump's latest bout of erratic behavior: his flip-flopping on tariffs. He's been flip-flopping on tariff's like no prior President in American history.

Trump claims the U.S. has been "ripped off" by every other nation in the world, in the field of international trade. How we got to have the world's largest economy despite these rip offs he never explains. His solution to Make America Great Again is to impose tariffs on (almost) all goods coming into the country. At the same time, he wants the other nations to not impose tariffs on the goods we ship to them. Basic principles of fairness, right?

Most recently, using dubious powers he says were granted by past Congresses, President Trump has talked about imposing higher tariffs as the main solution to America's problems (aside from ending DEI, deporting immigrants, and putting his loony friends in charge of federal agencies). He has not just talked: he has acted. He imposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico (previously in a free-trade zone with the U.S.), and on specific goods like aluminum, steel, cars and pickup trucks.

Last weekend he seemed to be ready to bring global trading to a halt. He announced higher tariffs, varying by country, that would go into effect Wednesday morning. But the stock market sold off on Tuesday, and panicked billionaires kissed trump's behind, if only metaphorically by telephone and posts on X. So Thursday morning he announced he was just kidding. He did leave a 10% tariff in effect for most nations. To show that he was not a chicken, that he is still a star and can "do it" to any nation he wants to, he raised tariffs on Chinese (but not Taiwanese) goods to ... let me check ... 145%.

President Trump grabbed his own ego and massaged it by saying the 90 day pause was because so many nations had offered to negotiate (kissed his ...).

What economists, political bodies, and even we peons want to know is how to plan for the future. Some pundits think that Trump takes extreme positions in order to negotiate to the best deals he can get. I think he is complex, if not as complex as the global economy, and the best way to plan is to apply the Trump Access Hollywood revelations to the situation.

Donald Trump feels just as entitled to getting what he wants with tariffs to how he feels about taking sexual liberties with women, married and unmarried, old and young. He has a particular hard on for China. China was a poor nation when Trump was born a billionaire, and he thinks it unfair that she won't marry him, give him a dowry, and hand over he holdings to his posterity.

Not that he won't take what he can from other nations. Canada and Mexico are just sitting there, even it their secondary sexual parts are somewhat hidden, waiting (in Donald's mind) to let him do whatever he wants. Just playing a bit coy. Really want to be added to the American harem, just want a good deal.

Then there are the uglies (low-wealth nations). Trump does not think about them much. In many cases he does not know their names, he just lumps them into African or Latin American or Asian women to be used mostly as low-caste servants and for lovin' only when the urge for variety strikes him.

So 90 days to negotiate. My advice is for the other nations to ban together and resist the rapist. What can he do, then, besides throw a fit? If Americans really need an item, they will pay the tariff. If they don't, sell the product to someone else. America has about 0.33 billion people. That leaves about 7.67 people to sell any surplus goods to.

Hopefully Americans will also resist Trump's embraces. Many Americans still do not understand Trump's real character. But we are learning.
