What would you do?

Donald Trump is attempting to extremely expand the powers of the President of the United States. He is ignoring legislation passed by Congress. He is essentially ruling by decree.

I think Democrats should think about using these expanded powers ourselves.

Here is what I would do in my first day of office, if I am elected President. I think every Democrat should think about what they want done on Day One. Every Democratic Party candidate in the nation should be asked to outline their plan, what they want a Democratic President to do. Certainly anyone running for President should complete this exercise and publicize their plan.

First, I would sign an Executive Order arresting Trump for Treason. The Constitution guarantees him a speedy trial. We know exactly what he did. We know the penalty for his level of treason: death. So my goal would be a public execution, by hanging, on the morning of my second day in office. I would be willing to hear his lawyers argue that he is insane. Then the sentence could be commuted to life without parole in a mental institution, not a fancy one, more like the ones we send vagrants to.

Second, I would collect back taxes owed by billionaires. Well, on anyone with a net worth of more than, say $10 million. I don't want to go into the details of capital gains vs. ordinary income here, but I would set a retroactive capital gains, marked to market, rate of 80% on all gains over a billion dollars. Make that over $100 million. I would use the revenue to fully fund Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid for all, and to pay down the national debt.

Third, I would raise the national minimum wage to $20.00 per hour.

Fourth, I would immediately stop the manufacturing and importing of gasoline powered cars and small trucks. Any such car already built could be sold. Anyone in love with gasoline could maintain their current vehicle as long as possible, but all new vehicles would need to be electric only. I would also raise the federal tax on gasoline to continue to maintain our highways.

I would put a heavy tax on server farms, including AI farms and Ponzi coin farms, to use for environmental remediation.

I would have America join a Global Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure that the entire world is protected, as much as possible, from global warming and other destruction to the environment.

Of course there are many other actions I would take. I have a few years to think about them. The important thing is to challenge your governor, your representatives, and your senators to say what they would do on Day One. Only then can we know who is worth supporting. I don't want to hear about returning to normal. We are in a Slow Motion Apocalypse. I want a strong Democratic leader who will do what is right, including to the Republican insurrectionists.
