Andrew Johnson was the 17th President of the United States of America. He was born on December 29, 1808 and served as Vice President to Abraham Lincoln from March 4, 1865 until he succeeded him as President on April 15, 1865. He then was President until March 4, 1869. Johnson was a Democrat from Tennessee; he and Lincoln ran as the National Union Party ticket in 1864. He is remembered for being impeached by Congress, then acquited of the charges.
