About Protestant
Religious Sects

Protestant simply means a Christian sect that is not Catholic or Orthodox or still hanging around from early Christian times. Protestants were considered heretics and were executed by the Catholic Church until there were so many of them that war became an impractical way of settling their differences.

I'll be comparing Protestant beliefs and practices to Catholicism, atheism, Islam, etc. The history of these sects is particularly interesting: how did there get to be so many of them? How did radical anarchist sects from centuries ago become ultra-conservative, right-wing extremists in the modern era?
