James Monroe was the 5th President of the United States of America. Born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on April 28, 1758, Monroe became an Anti-Federalist and had opposed adoption of the U.S. Constitution. He became President on March 4, 1817 and served until March 4, 1825. He died on July 4, 1831.
