Me Worry? Don't Worry, Be Happy

Things have changed so drastically since the early 1800s! People worry about entirely different things now than then. Allow me to present a few Then and Now comparisons.

Then: People worried about chopping enough wood during the summer to keep from freezing during the winter.

Now: People worry about keeping their cellphones charged up.

Then: People worried they would die from malaria, yellow fever, typhoid, pneumonia, childbirth and gunshot wounds.

Now: People worry that they might die from eating gluten, peanuts, or carbs; or from gunshot wounds.

Then: People worried that the harvest might fail and they would starve before the next one.

Now: People worry that they might get laid off and live on unemployment compensation, then have to use food stamps.

Then: women worried they might get pregnant or disease from unprotected sex.

Now: women worry that the government will ban abortion and birth control, so they might get pregnant or disease from unprotected sex.
