About Atheism

Atheism is not a religion or a philosophy. It is the state of not believing in a God. The narrower your definition of God, the more you define people as atheists.

Atheists are an extremely varied lot of people. Some have just realized that what they were taught about religion does not make sense. Others have well-worked out philosophies about ethics and the nature of reality.

Many extremely good people have been atheists, including notable scientists, political reformers, and philanthropists. Many extremely bad people have been atheists as well, notably Joseph Stalin.

This page has links to essays that may be of interest to atheists and people who want to understant atheism.

Before following other links please read the note on toleration. You might want to check out my Philosophy section as well.
